Hidden Wiki Onion Link (2026)
Everyone's heard of the Hidden Wiki. Here's why it's mostly useless โ and what to use instead.
What is the Hidden Wiki?
The Hidden Wiki is a community-edited wiki (similar to Wikipedia) that lists .onion links organized by category. It's been around since the early days of the Tor network and is probably the most famous dark web directory.
When people first learn about the dark web, the Hidden Wiki is usually the first thing they search for. It sounds like a comprehensive guide to everything on Tor.
The reality is very different.
The problem with the Hidden Wiki
There is no "official" Hidden Wiki
The original Hidden Wiki was a single site maintained by a small group of editors. It was seized and cloned repeatedly over the years. Today, at least a dozen different .onion sites call themselves "The Hidden Wiki" โ and none of them are the original.
Each clone is edited by whoever controls it. That means:
- Links can be swapped for phishing versions without warning.
- Scam services pay to be listed as if they were legitimate.
- Dead links accumulate because nobody maintains the pages consistently.
- There's no verification. Unlike Deepr, nothing on the Hidden Wiki is community-voted or cryptographically verified.
Most links are dead or dangerous
A typical Hidden Wiki page contains hundreds of links. In practice:
- Over half point to sites that no longer exist.
- Many are phishing clones of real services.
- Some are law enforcement honeypots.
- A significant portion link to scam "hacking services," fake ID sellers, and other fraud.
It's not a safe starting point
For beginners, the Hidden Wiki is one of the worst places to start exploring the dark web. You're likely to encounter scams, malware, and illegal content before finding anything useful.
Current Hidden Wiki onion link
The address changes frequently and there's no way to verify which version (if any) is "real." If you still want to visit:
- Check Deepr for any listed Hidden Wiki address.
- Understand that nothing on the page is verified.
- Do not click links, enter credentials, or send cryptocurrency to any service listed there without independent verification.
Better alternatives in 2026
These directories are more reliable, more current, and less likely to get you scammed:
Deepr
Deepr is what the Hidden Wiki should have been. It's a dark web search engine and community-driven link directory where every link is voted on by users โ you can search by keyword, browse categories like forums, services, privacy tools, and crypto, check whether a site is online or offline, and see its stability history over time. Anyone can submit new links, propose edits, or report bad content without creating an account. Open it in Tor Browser.
Our .onion Sites directory
We maintain a curated directory of verified onion links covering legitimate services: search engines, news outlets, email providers, privacy tools, and more. Every address was cross-checked against official sources.
Ahmia
Ahmia is a search engine specifically for .onion sites. Instead of browsing a static list, you search for what you want. It filters out abuse content and is also accessible from the clearnet.
Onion.live
Onion.live monitors onion site uptime in real time. It's a good way to check if a site is actually online and to find verified addresses.
